At SES we recognise that our people are our most valued asset; they are key to the ongoing success of our business and the satisfaction of our customers. For that reason we put significant resources into the development and training of our personnel.
SES has over many years continued to invest in young persons; by forging close working partnerships with local training colleges we continue to bring new skills to the sector and provide young persons with the opportunity for a rewarding career in a progressive organisation.
Scott Mearns, Jason McKown and Stephen Beasley are three members of our technical staff who have recently successfully completed apprenticeship schemes.
Scott and Jason's Aberdeen based apprenticeship scheme involved 1 year at Tullos Training College and the completion of an SVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations, followed by a 2 year National Certificate in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) on a day release basis, both of which have been successfully compketed. The final part of the modern apprenticeship involved the award of an SVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering which involved the assessment of competency in the workplace.
Stephen apprenticeship scheme in Great Yarmouth followed a slightly different route as he was already at Gt Yarmouth College when recruited by SES. Stephen satisfied the entry requirements for an advanced modern apprenticeship which commenced with a 2 year National Certificate in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic) on a day release basis; meanwhile he completed an NVQ Level 2 in Performing Engineering Operations and NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Electronic Engineering in the workplace.
All three were recently awarded their certificates of modern apprenticeship by SES Operations Director Alex McCrimmon. Following this Alex said ‘I am proud of these three young men, who have put in considerable effort both in the workplace and in their studies to achieve excellent results. Within SES we are firmly committed to investing in the future of our people to ensure they have the right level of knowledge and skill to meet the demands of the sector.’ This commitment is clearly demonstrated as SES also invests in Higher Education for its people, both Scott and Jason have just finished a 2 year HNC in Electrical Engineering and Stephen Beasley has completed year 2 of a 3 year Engineering Foundation Degree (FdSc) at Gt Yarmouth College.
