Aberdeen-based Specialist Equipment Solutions (SES), has generously presented Applus RTD UK, one of its longstanding associates, with a number of KEMPII welding plants. The company, which manages the Aberdeen Weld School, took delivery of the four SES owned weld plants in October 2008.
The state-of-the-art apparatus will be used for testing and certifying welders and will greatly improve and modernise Applus RTD UK’s weld training facilities and capabilities at the Dyce based weld school.
The KEMPII welding machines are a modern piece of plant that will enable Applus RTD UK to train welders on the same welding plant that they will essentially be working with in the field. This has additional benefits for SES as Applus RTD UK has provided the company with onsite training and assessment facilities for the last four years and will allow both companies to forge an integrated industry specific training programme.
SES provides high quality, specification equipment rental solutions tailored to suit individual project requirements, as well as providing a consultancy service with a view to helping its clients increase productivity, reduce production downtime and realise significant operational savings. SES’s Technical Manager, Harry Tait, who identified the opportunity to support the Aberdeen Weld School enhance its weld training facilities said:
“We are pleased to present the Aberdeen Weld School with this equipment which will help Applus RTD to provide training and renewal courses that are industry specific. The level and quality of training that the weld school provides to our highly skilled welders has always been outstanding but this will allow us to ensure candidates renewing weld testing qualifications use the same equipment in the learning environment as they are likely to do in the field.”
Cameron Smith, weld test house manager for Applus RTD UK added: “We have been working closely with SES for a number of years now and are delighted that the Aberdeen Weld School can benefit from a valued customer. This is a superb addition to our in house training facilities and is an exceptional piece of modern plant equipment which will benefit trainers and welders alike.”
